Ogunquit Maine. I could not see the ocean but was well aware of its company. Before long, the sun lit just enough for me to reacquaint myself with familiar surroundings. Blustering snow just a few weeks past in the space above me has now been replaced by a blur of fluttering moths............... a sure sign of the new season.

Moon Tide At Laudholm

Laudholm Farm historically was a saltwater farm which is now part of the Wells Reserve in Maine. Hiking Trails cover a varied topography of fields, forests, salt marshes and beaches. It is a location that I take pleasure in revisiting often. On this particular morning we were out before the sun came up hoping to spot deer, which are very plentiful in the area, on the beach. As day broke a thick fog rolled in and we could barley see 10 feet in front of us. Not a condusive enviroment for seeing anything but my own feet yet I was moved to document the event with a painting.

Striking Moment

It was one of those moments that make you stop what you are doing and fully experience every aspect of it. As soon as the storm clouds settled overhead the wind died down and everything was still. Complete silence was interrupted metrically by a distant foghorn. There was the scent of salt in the air and the atmosphere became so heavy you could feel it weighing on your chest with every breath. Yes, we did get soaked that day.
