What a day! We had to wander off the trail a little to get a look at this beautiful scene. There was a great blue heron keeping his eye on us while feeding in the shallow water. We didn't want to disturb him so we hurried on our way. Westport has so many scenic hiking trails.

How great it is to be able to do what you love EVERY DAY! We were expecting some snow and the sky looked somewhat threatening. It was cold and crisp....... my kind of weather and perfect conditions for exploring dramatic landscapes.

One of our few accumulations of snow this winter here in Rhode Island. I'm one of the few who would be happy to see a whole bunch more. Think Snow! I really enjoyed the storm and also enjoyed painting it. This scene is from Colt Park in Bristol....... a picturesque place during any season.

I always carry prepared pocket size panels with me when I go hiking. I use them to sketch my surroundings on. I also photograph the scene that I have sketched. In my studio I later paint over the sketch referencing my photographs as well as my memory.

This painting does come with a frame and is the perfect size to display on a table top easel. The unique size and paint surface makes this piece quite attractive.

Tuscany

I thought I would kick off my first blog with one of my favorite paintings "Tuscany". Why is this one of my favorites? The bold, strong brushstrokes and lushness of the paint. It is painted on a deep canvas and is painted on the sides as well so hanging it without a frame is an option.
